> Request - Symbian Phone Sub-Categories
Bookmark topic
Is there anyway we can have sub-categories to break down the phone models (i.e. P800/P900/P910, M600, P990). It's becoming a pain in the arse to sift through all these threads that do not concern the model I'm interested in. I don't suppose it's possible to implement a filter feature to separate the thread topics. However, it would be easier to at minimum break them down by UIQ platform versions (i.e. UIQ 2.1, UIQ 3, etc..). A lot of the features and software are platform version specific and are not reciprocal between phone models. So I don't see the benefit in clumping all these models into one thread pool.

Here's an example breakdown format:
Sony Ericsson P800, P900 and P910
Sony Ericsson P990
Sony Ericsson M600i
Sony Ericsson W950
Motorola A920, A925, A1000, Benq P30 and P31 and Arima U300
All the above mobile phones do really belong in a category of their own. There are some very distinctive features that dicern them from one another.

I raised this issue myself back in December:
http://www.esato.com/board/viewtopic.php?topic=111326&start=0
Despite the clear indication then that many were in favour of separate forums for the different platforms, the forum admin(s) thought otherwise.
I agree with you; lumping these very different phones into one forum makes no sense. It's certainly put me off visiting here (as a P910 owner).

i think 2 forums will be enough. uiq2 and uiq3 - i do feel sorry for the p910 users who have been swamped by the new p990 and M600 users.

I agree, only uiq2 and uiq3 is enough: since almost any uiq2 software runs on any uiq2 device, and any uiq3 software should run on any uiq3 device. If we have different topics for M600 and P990, then the sman discussion where would go?

I agree, i think the forum should split, it's becoming increasingly confusing.

Any mods got views on this? To be honest i'm not that bothered but i would be if i was looking for threads for my p910. Even tho i'm sure a majority of people surfing esato's sybmian forums must still use UIQ2 devices, there are always only 1 or 2 threads relating to them on the first page.
God knows what it will be like when networks actually release the p990 and w950
