I was in Singapore last week. I heard Singapore wanted to make a smoke free country... so the 1st thing they did was rise the Price of a pack of smokes so now I heard its around US$6 for a large one.. if im not wrong..
and now the most extreme thing they did is... in certain area you cant smoke at all.... and they have put certain area with a yellow line box on the ground where people can smoke Only in within the yellow line box...
and I'm talking about open air spaces, not an actual box or place... just a square yellow line on the ground, so if your caught smoking outside the box or in a non-smoking area.. you'll be fine US$25.

@ O2 Correct the new smoking rules in Singapore started in july. And yes cigarettes are that expensive here. And even though i smoke i dont find the laws here an inconvenience as smoking areas are clearly designated. Besides its helping me to quit as i smoke less now. And the laws also keep Singapore one of the cleanest, safest and most beautiful cities in the world.

Smoking/smokers are not as annoying as they used to be...now we've got smoking regulations and for the most part you can endure a day without having to breathe in poisons but the above example is a bit extreme...Americans might even call it facist.

over at our place , smoking in private places are banned. that means you cannot smoke on the roads, hotels or in the car. but ppl do manage to find some shops that are in bylanes where ppl can smoke, but if the police catch you, just bribe them with around 100rs (around 2$)

I am happy I don't smoke any more. Here in Norway, a 20-pack of cigarettes cost $10,70! It is not allowed to smoke in pubs or restaurants.
