Today I tested a public hotspot with my P990. I just scanned for WLan net, and all of a sudden I was online! - Without creating/configuring an account. Later I discovered in my "Internet accounts" menu an "defaultWiFiAccount", it was created automatically by this Hotspot. When I try to open it or delete it, my P990 says just "this account is read-only and cannot be changed!"
I tried also deleting the log of this account, erased it out of the preferred group account, and tried to delete with the qwertz keyboard - but the account is stubborn!
Did anybody experience the same? How can i get rid of this "read-only" account?

Same experience here, backup and restore without settings, that's my solution to delete this account.

I dont think i have created a account yet? I have used wifi in 2 places at home and at a free hot spot in local pub i just search and connect them im on the net.

Is this the wrong way for doing it?

I've got that too, but what's the big deal? It can be used for any basic wireless network. Why delete it?

Hi all,

That wireless account is NOT created by the hotspot.
Its the phones default wifi account.

ie. ifyou have not configured ANY wireless access on your phone, it will try to connect to an open hotspot using the default.

For my internet group setup, i have the default wifi account first, followed by my specific access points. This method allows me to connect to any available network, or fallback onto my own networks if i'm at home, or work or friends etc.

Enjoy
Chris

the default wifi account is also used for hotspots that have open acces with http login, like my university and "the cloud" hotspots found at mcdonalds and other restaurants here in stockholm, as well as the government net found in some parks (free access)
