I know 3g sims are not supposed to work in 2g handsets. But out of curiosity tried my Celcom (malaysian network) 3g sim in my s700i and surprise got signal and could make call. Not sure about gprs access have to get them from network. Will try later. Any ideas why 3g sim worked in s700i ? Am using my z800i to post this .

It will use the services 2g network. I know 3 in Uk will block the sim if used in a non 3g handset.

@ qwerty hadnt realised was network block in uk on 3g sims in 2g handsets .. Had thought was the difference in the way theyre built/operate. Usually use Starhub in Singapore but in Jb in Malaysia today . Good to know as can use s700i instead in Jb as worry bout phone getting nicked..h8 the thought of losing any phone but better the s700 rather than my z800 or w900. Mainly was curiosity got me to try.
