It sure seems like it. When the W600 was released, the Cingular forums were flooded with WSOD posts like this one. Then, when I received my W810, it died within hours of its first use following a properly ejected USB connection to a PC. Others on this board will only sidestep the problem via USB or memory card readers.

I hate to rehash an old rant, but this seems to be a Achilles' heel. For all of Motorola's faults, their newer phones (with the mini-USB ports) could connect over USB to a computer more quickly (e.g. no reboot required) and 100% reliably.

please fix this! We can't let Motorola be better in any way

I have experienced the opposite. I have never had problems connecting an se phone via usb but had trouble with a v3i

I also don't recall ever having a problem connecting aby SE via USB, or any device in fact including V3/V3i/L7/iPAQ/i-mates etc etc

mind you, I do tend to keep my laptop very "clean" from unkown software that might cause issues

Hhhmmm reliable Motorola connections ??? It took almost 4 hours
the first time I tried to get my PEBL hooked up and all of 10 mins
for it's replacement - a w810i - which has had no problems with
connections via usb since it's first install (that's 6 months now)

I don't know hlcn twst, but I know this, I've played with a lot of SE phones, and apart from the odd dropped connection or computer needing to be restarted (no more common than any other phone), I have had SFA problems with connectivity.

All I can put it down to, is that whenever someone has a lemon, they jump on forums, whereas when someone has one that works, they don't jump on a forum and tell everyone about it, so that it seems like there are more lemons than non-lemons. But it's an illusion created by the fact that we don't get to hear from as high a proportion of satisfied users against dissatisfied users.

Infact, if you note, everytime someone starts a thread canning SE connectivity, there is no shortage of people posting that they have no problem.

So I think people see what they expect to see.

It also needs to be considered that probably 50% or more of bad reports will turn out to be computer problems, dirty connections, incorrect settings, or some other unrelated factor.

Only time I ever had problems with my K750I & the USB was when the dodgy firmware was about but SE soon sorted that out for the next version.

Ive only owned 1 Motorola phone in my life & that was one too many, Would never have one ever again! Spent more time away being fixed then I care to remember.
