Since Windows doesn't allow the bridging of wired devices (USB connected, serial port etc) through to networking devices inherintly, there are no ways to make the phone communicate with your network adapter by normal means. THe only thing would be to use 3rd-party softwaresolutions for network access that supportd all the protocols, or to have a dummy network-driver made for windows that translated he data.

But normally I'd say it's a no-go.

I have no problem connecting my VAIO laptop to internet using P990i both via BT and USB stand.

Well, I believe it's the other way around. Making the phones browser connect through shared internet on the PC. Not dialing with the phone as a 3G-modem, that's of course no problem.

That's right, but personally I could only get it to work using opera browser which maybe supports Dispater's theory of using third party apps in some way?
