Networks are pitching in with large orders for Sony Ericsson's first ever slider, the W850i.The Walkman handset will be available in large volumes in stores from the second week of October.

3 is particularly enthusiastic, as the W850i is the first ever Walkman-branded handset and could be a useful weapon to accelerate music downloads. No retailer or operator is expected to get an exclusive on the handset.

I walked past a vodafone shop yesterday in Liverpool City Centre and the White version was being advertised already.

Do you think they might have an exclusive agreement?

I also thought Orange had first shout with all

handsets?

Well according to this report no network has an exclusive on this handset,not even Orange....looks like this ones a free for all,which is only better for the consumer.

I did'nt like the W850 intially but its kind of grown on me over time,but still not sure if its enough to make me go out and buy one?

I thought I saw a poster in the window so I was right. I went in but it was not in their display cabinets. Funny them advertising it 3 weeks before the official release. I guess it will be branded then, just like their W900i was.
