Hello,

I just got W810i before a month....my Firmware version is R4DB005..

I have been reading quite a lot here..and culdnt understand some of it..!!

What exactly is UNBRANDING ?

Adv/Disadv of it....and can i do it on my CID 49 W810i...??

some phones come locked to a certain network,for example locked on the vodafone network or t-mbile or watever.... they are branded phones, you can unlock phones and unbrand them and therefore then use them on any network anywhere.......

Well, sort of but there's more to it than that. Unbranding is removing all of the extra menu items, settings, icons, screensavers, wallpapers, themes etc. that are put on the phone by a specific operator and are often unable to be deleted using normal means. This is often done by flashing the phone with a generic, non-branded version of the phone's firmware rather than one released by the operator.

Unlocking is a seperate procedure altogether to unbranding (or debranding). It's possible to have a branded phone unlocked to all networks and vice-versa.
