Despite his lack of taste in phones, I'm trying to send a MMS message from my T68i on Vodafone to a friend's N*kia 7650 on T-Mobile. Instead of the MMS message he gets a SMS with a URL in it that he has to visit to see the message.
To me this implies that his phone is not set up to receive MMS. The question is does he have to sign up to T-Mobile's picture messaging service (which costs £20 per month!) to get the required push settings or is there some way he can enter these manually or get them SMSed to his phone? He doesn't want to spend that much money and has no desire to send MMS messages - jsut to receive them.
Has anyone else successfully sent a MMS message from Vodafone to T-Mobile without having the T-Mobile picture messaging service activated?
thanks
Simon

Ok you have 2 problems here
Problem 1) Your friend dosent have the MMS Subscription for T-Mobile
Problem 2) You Can send MMS to different networks (YET!!)
I doubt there will be a option for recieve only MMS.
Cross Network MMS will probably be available once O2 pull their finger out and release their MMS facilities (Supposidly they have the key to cross network MMS!, Go Figure!)

Ah, I see. Problem 2 is the real killer here. When I spoke to Vodafone tonight the woman said that she thought is was possible to send MMS across networks. I can see from your post and now from the Vodafone webpage that it isn't possible yet. Thanks for your help.

Orange & Voda will have the first cross net MMS in spring 03 - long time to wait - other networks to follow
