Has anyone else noticed or found a way to correct this issue?

in the music player, mp3 tags work great on the mp3's but on AAC files (i'm a mac/itunes bloke - so virtually my whole collection is AAC) the tags do not come across and therefore my music on the P990i sometimes has missing artist / album info

any ideas people?

Eagerly await any solution myself. I bought a copy of SyncMyPortable to transfer itunes tracks/playlist over to my P990i and its great except loosing tags with aac/m4a tracks.

I'm having to get the programme to recode to mp3 prior to transfering to the P990i which obviously slows the whole transfer process down significantly in addition to loosing quality converting from 128k m4a to 128k mp3.

Well i hope the new firmware resolves this issue - if it works it could be a decent replacement for my ipod...

I know the W810i and all the Nokia Symbian phones work perfectly fine with AAC files...

Hi psikey,
If you are haveing to convert to mp3 why don't you just use the Disc2Phone software and convert to 192Kbps which in my opinion is great quality and does not increase the file size too much.

Only doing conversion to maintain the tags and unlike disc2phone where you can drop songs or playlists to the phone, syncmyportable software integrates into iTunes and can use your defined iTunes playlists & autoplaylists just like an iPod.

OK no problem it was only a suggestion and as i don't use i tunes I'm a Sony addict so use Connect just thought it may have been a better solution for you, only trying to help. As 192Kbps is obviously better than 128Kbps and of course it maintains all the tags.

I convert CD's into aac using Sony Connect and the ID tags don't work on my K800i.

Thanks for that info. Must be something with the phones. If I remember correctly, I don't think the PSP handles acc tags correctly either! Must be a Sony thing.

Hi all,
and that is why i suggested 192Kbps MP3's although my Nokia N93 handles AAC no problem the M600 just didn't seem to like them. Sorry if i didn't explain the reason for my suggestion better before but basically if you want ID tags my previous advice still stands as the best solution IMO.

hi all!
i've got 3000+ songs on my computer, all in mp4 format, so i was quite peeved when the tags didn't work in my k750/w800.
however i found that if they had a m4a extension then they worked.
use this - http://www.yehiaeg.com/extchanger/index.php?view=desc program to drag and drop desired mp4 files to change their extension to m4a (of other). does the job 4 me and it's pretty quick!

enjoy
