windows mobile, more stable, more software, more free software, doesn't need digital signing (uiq3) if you know how to program you can integrate the software with ALL the phone functions / other programs,
the bad if you're a noob some programs might conflict and give you bugs but if you now what you're doing you should be alright, even if you do get a problem you can't solve just do a search as they have all been experienced before.
my gazillion cents

win mobile has easier connection to windows domains and PC or Notebook. But is relatively less stable and its application are generally larger in size.
symbian used to be more stable but not the current P990i.

Windows mobile is a disgrace. Totally unacceptable for phone use and somewhat poor for PDA use. Unstable, buggy and just plain flawed both in conception and execution.
It was my misfortune to use an iMate JAM (WM03) and then an O2 Exec (WM05). Just like Windows, there seems no progress where it matters - the OS is fundamentally flawed.
The M600i is a delight to use. Yes, we need software - but that wasn't the question.

I had an O2 XDA Exec for about 6 months till I got rid of it - unacceptably slow, and p*** poor battery life (not even a single day), sound quality and phone part was also atrocious...
In 2001 I had an IPAQ, in 2006 an XDA - I bet it'll be more than 5 years before I venture back into windowsland for my pocket...

After the end of the day when I log off my computer, the last thing I need is another windows based computer in my hand. So I prefer Symbian. More fun to me.
