A project of the European Commission agreed to include alerts on Mobile phones they make that will remind people to unplug their charger once a phone is fully charged.
ESATO NEWS
Thanks to the decision of a mobile industry task force led by Nokia, you might be hearing these words from your phone next year. The members of the task force,a project of the European Commission (EC), agreed to include audio alerts on phones they make that will remind people to unplug their charger once a phone is fully charged.
If 10 percent of the world's mobile phone owners did this, the group's final report said, it would reduce energy consumption by an amount equivalent to that used by 60,000 European homes per year. Nokia announced that it will have the alerts in place on its phones by the middle of 2007.

looks like that adapter lets you charge and listen, does that come with the K800?
ANyway, if that audio alert comes and I can't switch it off I'll be pissed!
I charge my phone at night and I dont want to be woken up 3 hours into my sleep.

I think it will be better if they will make something that will automatically shut off...
a lot of people are like kids... even if they are reminded something... they will find it hard to do it...

@Amnesia, it is not an adapter, k800 is supplied with such a charger.
I think the charger should simply shut off once the phone is fully charged. I usually charge my phones overnight and every audiable alert would p**s me off

Having a charger that automatically switches off is a no-brainer. Audible reminders are too pretentious.

The point is to unplug the charger from the socket!
If not it will still consume electricity.

Why can't they just design a charger that consumes no power when it isn't charging. If the phone isn't trickle charging (how much power does this need?) then the PSU can be disabled.
Perhaps put a push-button on the charger that tells it to power until the phone stops taking a current (ie. charged), then switch off until the next press.
A warning is just stupid. People will ignore it!
