My Palm handheld is giving me fits, and the iPod is a very poor substitute. So how well do the W810's Organizer functions work in lieu of a handheld? And more importantly, how well does iSync put iCal data into the phone's Calendar and Tasks apps? Also, are the Notes and Code Memo apps synchronizable?
I primarily use my handheld for calendar data, to do lists, and shopping lists. I also have a nice (and encrypted) app for storing sensitive info, e.g. 100s of web logins

I'd like your feedback on the W810's ability to handle these tasks.
A smartphone would obvisouly be a better choice, but I won't hold my breath for an Americanized (850 MHz GSM, EDGE, 1900 MHz-only UMTS)

I used to sync my w900i on my PB with no problems. All iCal entries, address book the whole lot would sync with my phone and set reminders and alarms whenever I wanted it to.
Although im pretty sure w810i is compatiple with iSync, you might want to check on the link
Even with future phones, there are scrips available at macosxhints.com that will let your phone be fully compatible with iSync so you can exchange things between your mac and the phone

Thanks, but I already new they were compatible - I've always used iSync to get Addess Book info onto whatever phone I had at the time.
My question was more directed at any potential problems, shortcomings, glitches, etc. in synchronizing iCal data as well.

I have been using the w810i with iCal and Address book for about a month now and haven't had any problems yet. I have only begun to use the "notes" feature lately but I haven't figured out a way to sync those with my Powerbook yet. It works pretty sweet, my phone rang the other morning to remind me of my brothers birthday, which I had entered into my iCal long ago. Beautiful!
Bluetooth setup was a piece of cake but I will warn you, USB has been a bit of a hassle. When you mount it (just plug it in, no drivers) the phone will mount 2 volumes, when you go to eject "one" of them, the other hangs up and won't eject. This has been the only downfall, well, that and the fact that the lame-ass included software is Windoze only (and sucks big-time). I usually just use Bluetooth to "Browse Device" and transfer files that way, then you don't get the little .DS and ._invisible files.
I have heard you can use a program to export your iTunes playlist to your phone but I haven't tried it yet. (I will post back when I remember the name). There it is...

I've been using Sony Ericsson handsets with iCal, Address Book and iSync for years. Started with T610, then K700, K750 and now K800.
All have worked perfectly, and easily took the place of my aging Palm IIIc. Events & To-Do's with alarms, or not all sync fine.
Address Book notes sync to the K800 at least (using my
iSync plugin). Code Memo is not possible to sync.
My memory is getting worse and I use my phone as my electronic diary every day. It's invaluable to me!
iSync 2.3 has improved things even more as you now can sync up to 1 year in advance.
The only things to be aware of are:
- time zone issues. Future events after the clocks change will be out by 1 hour, until the clocks actually do change, and sync again.
- iCal supports multiple calendars. The phone does not, although you can sync multiple calendars, they'll only be shown as one merged calendar in the phone.
