Both my k750 and k800 came unlocked with only minimal branding(one of the icons takes you to 02 homepage). Other than that i`m very happy with an unaltered mobile.

if you were to put a vodafone sim, would the o2 icon change to vodafone

if you purchased your k800i from say, cpw on o2, then yes...putting a vodafone sim in would change the operator, and hence the network logo on the front..if you got it from o2 itself, i wouldnt be sure.

The icon doesn't change. The description does change though to the homepage of whichever networks sim card is inserted and if that networks GPRS/3G settings are installed and selected.
Usually debranding doesn't get rid of the icon either but if the debranding is done via Wotanserver. The Play Now icon returns instead of the web link icon.
Oh. Mine was straight from O2. Had O2 screensaver, start up screen, shutdown screen and an O2 theme. The screensaver, start up picture and shut down picture can be deleted from the file manager but the O2 theme cannot be removed.
Used Wotanserver and it got rid of everything. Freed some memory up as well.
Usually if you buy a phone from CPW they will be generic versions although they do also carry branded handsets and also lately are passing refurbished and returned handsets off as brand new (I know of the Hanley branch in Stoke On Trent, Crewe store that do this).
My sister works for one of the companies that supply CPW.
Since she told me about it I've stayed well clear of CPW.
