> w800i - 'Spot' on the camera - HELP
Bookmark topic
Hi,
ive had my w800i a while.
I fitted a new cover on it recently but after i put it all back together the camera now shows a small dark area on the photos. Its like a small black spot.
There is no dirt on the lense, no scratches.
I know someone else who had this problem and they took it to carphone ware house and they fixed it.
So i took mine into carphone warehouse too.
I asked whether i would lose my photos and sounds, they said yes.
So i thought they would just be flashing the camera drivers, sounded like a software fault.
But they wouldnt fix it as it didnt have the sony sticker on.
So....i have put the hybrid camera driver on the phone thinking it would fix it. but it hasnt.
Has anyone else had this problem with the camera?
thanks.
Any help at all is muchly appreciated

you can take it to carphone warehouse, if you're from the UK and they will solve it for free.
As long as it has the sticker behind where the battery goes.
But when i replaced my housing the sticker obviously wasnt on the replacement.
So i can either take the phone to pieces, then put the old housing with the stick back on.
Or i can fix it myself.
I imagine it will only be a firmware update or something.
They mentioned that i would lose my stored photos and sounds, so i dont think they actually replace the lense

I don't get how you will lose your photos? Back them up on the Memory Stick that came with the phone?

yep, i know thats an option.
but the reason i mentioned that is because its proof the the shop were going to flash the phone.
therefore i should be able to fix it myself.
The question is...how?
maybe a firmware upgrade?

Got nothing to lose I guess. Back everything up and head on over to Wotanserver/Da Vinci Team and buy a credit (guide to flashing can be found on either site or a quick search on here) and flash the phone. I have a feeling it won't fix it for some reason though...

I had the same problem, just took the battery out for a few hours and everything was ok. Maybe it was just luck.

thanks.
Will try the battery thing.
Flashing it hasnt made any difference.
I think i will end up putting it all back together and taking it to carphone warehouse
