what do i have to do to unlock a sony ericsson w700i? all i have is the phone and a data cable but i have been told this is all thats needed!

imo u should turn to experts and let it done by them if u never did it on your own. its better and more secure to avoid any bug later

As with most sony ericsson phones there are two codes to unlock it
1= NCK (Network code key)
2=SPCK (Service Provider Code Key)
You can speak to your network operator and ask them for these codes they may charge for this
To enter in these codes to your handset.
With your current sim card in
press your joystick left then * then * then joystick left
the phone should then display "Personalized with MNC2”
1st select Network
Phone will display NCK:
Type in the Unlock NCK code
Phone will display “Network Unlocked”
2nd select SP
Phone will display SPCK:
Type in the Unlock SPCK code
The handset should be unlocked and accept any sim card
