> M600i dead after firmware update
Bookmark topic
Hi all,
I bought my M600i from Ebay and tried to upgrade via SEUS. Now the phone does not boot and the screen just flashes on and then off.
I have tried to re-flash but all I get is the message saying that I already have the latest firmware.
I took the phone to a SE service centre who say they will need to send it away but need proof of purchase first, something I obviously don't have.
What are my options other than waiting for a new firmware release and seeing if that works, and then if it doesn't what do I do?
Any help is appreciated.

You should have proof or purchase from eBay. Also, the prooof of purchase is for them to repair it for free.

Ah, i hadn't thought of that.
Has anyone actually used an ebay proof of purchase to get a service centre to carry out repairs?

Called SE today and am none the wiser as to whether or not an ebay invoice would suffice.
Does anyone know if it's possible to force a firmware update, using either SE software or 3rd party?

you don't need an invoice surely? the phone is so new.. it will be within the warranty period for sure anyway??
Just a thought because I've never had to use a proof of purchase when i've taken my phones to the service centres.

Neither have I with previous phones but the guy on the desk made it very clear that I needed proof of purchase, I was surprised. I'm going to try a different service centre tomorrow and see what they say.

Tried Carphonewarehouse service centre and they couldn't fix it either, I assume that they only have access to the same tools for flashing that we do i.e SEUS and that is showing my phone as having the latest software, even though I can't get it to turn on!
Waiting on a reply from SE customer service as to whether or not an invoice from ebay is ok and if it is then I have it in writing from SE.
This is a real pain in the backside, I can't believe that SE software would allow you to do such damage to your handset, there should be some sort of backup procedure that can force the old f/w or new f/w on to the phone if this kind of thing happens, as I've read of quite a few folk having similar problems.

After receiving the 'Latest Software Already installed' screen, just hit the 'Continue Anyway' Button and this will re-flash your phone.
