Hi, my sister got her white W850 on Saturday from Phones4U as a Vodafone upgrade(managed to get the $50 cost waived also, good girl); I had literally 10 minutes with her and it yesterday. So some very concise observations, and a few piccies for you!

1) Back of phone: split about texture, gives good grip; flatness means speaker gets muffled; camera lens is the small 3.86mm lens; I like chrome sliding section:

2) Slide mech is nice(reminds me of 8800); feels 'right' in hand;(obvious?)Voda branding/locking, new icons for SIM Lock screen:

3) Front panel buttons/D-pad put form over function, pad feels stiff while softkeys etc. are a little loose - as is the Walkman bar.......have to see how these fare with more use; Firmware is R1ED:

4) OK, to OS - phone is slightly slower than K800 in operation, lack of memory does no favours, only K800 user would notice immediately tho'; most things are equivalent to K800, except camera/flash support/walkman - camera is quite disappointing, no zoom over VGA res, no AF, bad light/noise processing.......I didn't even want to take more than one picture, my sister not sure if it's better than her old S700 now.....
.......on a brighter note, flash themes are supported.....AND PRESENT(even in this Vodafone-infected version)!!!!!! Here's Orbit(voda icons):

5) Okay, to Walkman......V2 player is very slick, album art is nice, although the default animations are possibly nicer to show off; button pulses look flash, probably wastes battery tho', sound seems louder than K800, more like W800/810(could have had stereo like W550 tho), typical mono sound:

6) Last but not least, my favourite bit...why I now want Walkman v.2; if you have a flash theme set, on W850, standby screen is also flash-based...
When playing Walkman, flash can INCORPORATE 'now playing' info into theme and standby! Here's Orbit standby with music playing:

...this did it for me, just need more flash themes to test with now!
Hope y'all like the sub-review, sorry I can't tell you more, as I said I only had 10 mins with the phone.......anyway, GO GET YOUR OWN now you know how slick it is!

I decided on a K800 instead, but I sure was keen on the black W850!

If only you could get this media player into the K800(like Eldar's prototype), I might actually keep another handset for a whole twelve months(instead of my average 3).......

Thanks, @Goldenface!
Would really need a black, SIM-free handset for a proper review; Voda branding does let the side down somewhat......
.......and I would like to get to the bottom of the camera lense diameter issue tho! Are thay all 3.86mm, or does the black model have the 4.2mm?? X1387 wants $10 more for the black version, yet the white has the gold 'W' on the back, something still doesn't add up.......yet........ :|
Still, overall, a slick addition to the Walkman range..........

@Aware

It seems there have been a few pre-production changes. Like the Back of the screen was painted white - and not chrome - in some of the early pics I have seen.

The camera lens mystery should be solved soon. We'll have to find out if the differences between the white and black versions are purely cosmetic or not.

These themes will not work on any other handset at the moment will they? Cool!
