> P990i still in beta?
Bookmark topic
Hi,
I got my P990i on Friday and I am really surprised this phone is in sales at all. The phone is so full of bugs that I am sure my grandma could make better software...
Enough complaining. I just want to know if this is just my phone or is every one here has problems with the phone?
This is my experience after 3 days of use.
The phone restarts it's self to improve system resources. What is up with this? I want to restart the phone when I want not 2 - 3 times a day because the phone thinks it needs so.
The phone has at least frozen up 2 times so I had to take out the battery to get it to reset.
Several kern-exec errors a day (5 - 10 maybe) Exchange Sync, Address book, and so on.
There is too little memory! Please free up some. How to do that when now other applications is not running? And still shouldn’t the be dynamic enough to be able to shutdown applications if it need more resources? I would think so. At least M$ has managed that with windows mobile 5.
Sorry if all this has been addressed before but I just had to express my frustration with this phone.
Btw my software is R7A001
Best regards
Bosse

Me too. Frequent crashes, usually requiring battery removal. Very slow, or certainly slower than my P910 or P900. Some very strange bugs in SMS messaging one of which I can only fix by rebooting the phone. All in all, so far a very frustrating experience. I have updated to the latest firmware, but this does not appear to have made any difference. So far a very frustrating and disappointing experience after waiting so long for the phone.

Guys try using a swiss manager to see the difference. It helps the phone.

i've heard of swiss manager many times, what is it????
As for the bugs, i don't believe its a common problem so you shuld not be surprised thats its on sale. This is the reality. If it was such a disaster then SE won't have released.
People only come on here to find a solution to thier problems, this is what esato is really used for. Most users that experience hardly any probs don't come here to mention it. Theres no need for it.
I've had mine for several weeks and had few minor odd problems, but not regularly. You expect that from computers so why not from less advance devices like PDA phone.
I aknowledge some handsets are faulty and bugged up. I hope someone comes here and solves the problem for you.
I suggest you take it back to the place you got it from and ask to exchange it.
Good Luck!

swiss manager helps the phone to manage the RAM to free some of it to prevent it to hang. check this website to learn more about it.

Huh buddy, sorry to hear about all that - yes you can return it, on the other hand you'll be better of to PM 'Ares' . He knows some button combinations which reset the phone to the most stable firmware. It will still give you error now and then but not so much. Ask him nicely to help you because he is very busy. State your problems in detail ! I hope you'll soon fix all the problems and enjoy your new P-series :D

before trying the more drastic formating of internal disk, why not try a reflash of the software, do a master reset and installing the software again.
P990i is not stable but not as bad as what you are experiencing.

Hi,
Thanks for all the replies and good tips.
I have tried to reupdate the phone software. but without any luck of a more stable software. Is there a better way to reset the phone other than from the control panel? I have done this a couple of times and restored a backup. Do you think I restore the problems as well when I restore a backup?
How can i format the internal disk?
Best regards

And in order to restart the phone you DON'T HAVE to remove the battery...!!JUST push the on/off button about ~10sec and the phone turns off....

Is it possible to reverse your lobotomy???
i´m sad for people saying the phone is full of bugs an his unstable with the latest firmware, because it can only be one of two whings:
1 - theyr units are deffective
2 - they are lying
Has simple has that. I use the phone without problems. I use opera via wifi, PIM, sync with Outlook, Projekt (beta testing), Profimail, mig33, Quickoffice, mobipocket reader, java games, s-tris 2, lemmings, scummvm, jzip, nav4all, etc, almost everyday, the phone doesn´r freeze, doesn´t restart, etc. I also use the media player and bluetooth stereo all the time.
Of course, there is memory leakage, so i have to actively use the task manager and swiss manager, other than that, i have no problems for using the phone for work and leisure
