My work colleauge seem to be having problems with his Samsung E760 camera.
The history of the phone is that it is brand new and it was sent to him from America. I think it is unlocked.

He has other pictures on there that he said was taken with the camera which has came out ok, but now it developed this "red/pink ghosty tinge" which i can't seem to get rid of. I have checked the settings and everything is ok and the effects is set on normal, i even done a master reset the phone but it still remains the same.

I have bluetoothed a picture that was taken by his phone to mine and will upload it a bit later so you can see exactly what the problem is.

Can anyone suggest what the problem is and if there is a way he can fix it? As it came from America, would the phone still be under the manufacture guarantee in the UK?

Regards,

@ The Lostprophet: Hummm ... i have no idea as well. Oh, it would cost him to send it off to Samsung for repairs then. Thanks anyway. May be someone else on Esato has an idea?

dodgy ribbon cable or fudged cam module..

take it apart.. put it all back together and see...

Psychadelic picture, man!

As Fatreg says, it's probably the camera ribbon cable that's either come loose or damaged. It could just be a case of taking the phone apart and resiting the ribbon cable, or it may need replacing. If you take it apart, take a close look at the cable at both ends of it's connection and look for any rips, tears, or nicks in it.

I've fixed D500 cam problems like that by simply taking the ribbon out, making sure there's no dust in the connector or on the ribbon and putting it back together and it's then fine so may just be that.

Right, i don't have the knowledge to open/repair it and i doubt my work collegue has as well.

If he wanted to send it to Samsung for repair either through somewhere like CPW or Samsung themselves, it would properly be expensive to repair it. If he found a local mobile shop that does repairs, do you think they would able to fix it for him (if it is not under warranty here in the UK)? If so would what be a estimate for the repair?

If it's a non-warranty job then probably finding a local phone repair shop would be best. I can't see them charging more than £30-£40 for it, in fact probably less as the ribbon itself shouldn't be more than a tenner or so!

Also see what CPW etc. would say as well, see if they would do the repair and how much it would cost. I'm not sure if phone warranties are worldwide or just for the market area they were bought in - one of the hazards of buying from a market such as the US!

Right ok, well i'll pass on the information to my work collegue and let him decide what he wants to do.

But shoudn't the manaufacture warranty still would cover the handset for 12 months world wide?
