I got the P990 when it first came out.
This week, I won a Samsung SGH-i320 which I've been using now for a day. I really like Windows Mobile, and I dislike the fact that I've been using Symbian all along. The new phone isn't slow, haven't crashed on me and just works like a normal phone, plus it's a smartphone!
I would like to know if there are any other guys around that have been using Windows Mobile for a longer period of time, and can tell me what's good and what's not.
The first impression is MUCH better than that of P990. As you all know, the P990 is very sluggish, this one isn't! Plus Windows Media Player Mobile is a great application... No conversion needed!
I must admit that I hate myself for liking this new phone so much. The P990 was really expensive, and if I continue like the SGH-i320 so much, I could've done better in the first time...

well i just sold my M5000
wouldnt really say i had issues with software but it was slower than the P series biut how much of that was hardware i cant say.
just found it really laggy and with the flip screen it would often freeze up.
also would often not let me answer a call! meaning i had to constantly call people back.

Hi Lundmark! How did you win the phone? Does that mean this new Samsung smartphone is available now?

uiq3 is a joke,
uiq2 is years ahead of uiq3
I prefer wm5 over symbian,
don't let some people around here catch you saying that as you will be labeled a heretic and burnt to a toasty crisp
there are plenty of 3'rd party applications (some you realize you can't do without once you get them) check out handango,
my essential list:
1- flash 7 player /plugin for wm5 (free)
2- real player for pocketpc (free)
3- skype for pocket pc (free)
4- pocket rar (free)
5-spb pocket plus (today plugins, multiple ie windows + much more)
6- sbp diary (today plugins)
7- spb backup (backups what you want including registry to an exe so even if you don't have the program installed you can just click your backup and it will retore the phone)
8- resco file explorer (file explorer + ftp + registry editor)
9- pocket music player (really cool player uses winamp gui all winamp 2.x skins work with it looks exactly the same+ great equalizer)
10- lingosoft travel dictionary multilingual
not necessary for me but fun
11-bryht flash player
12- megasoft pocket clock
13- no1 calculator
and 14- microsoft voice command 1.5 highly recommended if you speak english without an accent.
emulators:
scummv plays all old lucasarts games among others
there are some great gba, nes, snes, megadrive emulators out there too all free.

I got the P990 when it first came out.
considering i have been waiting since it came out for my first one from Orange, i find that somewhat ironic, amusing, annoying and bloody stupid...all at once.
give it to me, im sure ill have use for it

well i like the pxxx range ease of use and snappy response and most of all its realability on the alarm side -i guess if u like the simple basic staff then the pxxx range is for u (based on uiq 2.1 experience)whereas if u would like depth and are interested in doing just about everything with your mobile then WM is fine for u as i have constantly discovered the narrow range of programs Symbian uiq is prepared to offer at a considerable dent to your wallet most of which come free on WM vast pool of programs ps uiq 3 is even worse with its less than stable platform
