ROK TV,the UK-based mobile communications and entertainment specialist, has launched a free mobile TV service globally.

ESATO NEWS

Following the highly successful launch of the world's first mass-market 2.5G multi-channel mobile TV service over GPRS ROK has now launched the world's first free mainstream mobile TV service, 'FreeBeTV'. Currently offering 4 channels of content - with many more slated in the near future, to include live news, music and sports - FreeBe TV is available via the dedicated link on: http://www.rok.tv and is compatible with 14 major handsets. FreeBe TV channels are streamed over GPRS to WAP enabled handsets.

The ROK content is free with the service being free from subscription charges of any kind. However, ROK advises consumers to double check with their network operators over any GPRS data-charges that might be incurred. As such, although subscription free, FreeBe TV is principally aimed at people with GPRS data packages in their mobile tariff.

The FreeBe TVservice includes an extreme sports channel, a vintage comedy channel, plus classic cartoons and classic movies channels. However, ROK is also looking to create the first mobile user generated channel called 'YOU-MADE-IT ' . Tapping into the increasing demand for user generated content, ROK is encouraging viewers of its TV services to send their own content into the channel, with a selection of the received content - which it anticipates will range from short movies, comedy clips, music videos and home-made animations and cartoons to be included on the channel, which will stream on the new mobile TV service.

FreeBe TV is compatible with the following Mobiles. However if your Mobile is not listed but has a Media Player and streams video, (subject to Operator) then you should be able to receieve FreeBe TV so give it a try, afterall it's free! http://www.freebe.rok.tv

you should recieve the WAP link straight away,I just tested it and it works fine for me,all you need to do is go to site, enter PIN and choose channel.

Just one more thing:

FreeBe TV uses approximately 1mb for 4 minutes of viewing.
