i just noticed that the sound of my alarm (mp3 chosen from my memory stick), goes off automatically after 25-30 seconds? what gives?

one more thing. there's just to many way to choose a sound for the alarm and i don't know which setting/preference to use. there's one in TIME>SET ALARM>ALARM SOUND, another in MAIN MENU>MEDIA PLAYER>MUSIC>ARTISTS/ALBUMS/PLAYLISTS/TRACKS/MY RECORDINGS>MANAGE>SET AS ALARM SOUND, and another one in MAIN MENU>TOOLS>CONTROL PANEL>DEVICE>SOUNDS AND ALERTS>ALARMS>ALARM CLOCK. do i need to have the same sound file in all of these preferences? is this the cause of my problem? i wish they'd all change automatically whenever an alarm sound setting is chosen.

Well, I never kept an alarm for half a minute to see if it works more or not, so...I guess no answers cuz others do like me. Either stop it or snooze it.

thanks, but... maybe i should make it clear.

the alarm goes off on time. however, it automatically stops after 25-30 seconds without me pressing a button or anything. the alarm sound just shuts off by itself. is this normal?

Yeah...all of the ways to change the alarm sound is the same. SE's been doing that for most of their phones. Just makes life easier really.

As for the shutting off problem. Sorry mate, it's never taken me more than 10 sec. to get up from an alarm. Can't help you there.

@bluesun

my only other experience with devices that I use for alrams is my Clie TH55 PDA and that only sounds the alarm for a while, stops and then tries again after a while. Never continues on and on and on....

My alarm also stops after about 20 seconds, however if I didn't press any buttons it starts again after a few minutes, and so on.

So your alarm should go start ringing again after a couple of minutes once it stops automatically. Try with P990's original alarm sounds see if you get the same result.

That's "snooze". It's Normal.

so it goes on "snooze mode" automatically? then what's the "snooze button" for?

oh well. the alarm goes off again after a minute, so i guess it's not a major problem. i just find it weird that it stops after 20-30 seconds... and then start off again after a minute.

maybe i just want to hear the entire song whenever the alarm wakes me up in the morning.

thanks for the replies.

Well, obviously, the snooze button is for those times when you just want to sleep a little bit longer without your 25 seconds long ringing tone. You snooze it , which means you postpone the alarm for a few minutes...the it'll ring again.
