> INstalling Sony Update Service Software
Bookmark topic
Hello, I had problems installing the Sony Update Service Software on my machine.
The installation would just hang at one point and do absolutely nothing.
What I had to do, was right click the installation .exe file, and select Disable Themes, and then set Compatibility mode to Windows 2000.
After I did this the software installed correctly. This is especially for people that may have installed Windowsblinds or similar software. Some Alienware users have such software installed automatically in the form of the ALien Guise software that comes with the system.
The second problem was INcorrect Macromedia Flash version. With Internet Explorer I thought I had installed Flash version 9. However when I looked on my system32 directory for flash9.ocx I could not find it.
Eventually I had to reinstall Flash 9 using the online ActiveX installer, and then restart the machine.
After that the Update Service functioned correctly.
I hope this helps those out there who are having problems running the service.
This was with my P990 phone.
I also had to fiddle with the phone for a while before finally getting it to properly update as well, but I guess that's another post
