Right, I've got a little bit of a problem with tennis shoes. These tennis shoes I've had for about errr 2 months. Although I do play quite regularly imo that is too short a time for this to have happened to them.

Check the pic:

Before these shoes (K-Swiss Surpass) I had some Adidas ones...can't remember the model number and the same thing happened to them.

I'm looking for some advice as to where to go next. Apparently Nike used to make a model with strips on the front to stop exactly this happening but I can't find them.

Does anyone here play tennis and have any recommendations for durable shoes?!

Thanks guys,
Alec

Wilson Evolution Tour Shoe & Nike Air Zoom Vapour 3 have toe ended DuraTec cover. It helps a little but wont help longterm.....

Maybe change your serve action to avoid the drag of your toes

not meaning to say anything but you might want to look at your service action as i presume thats where you damage the shoe like this from. its not normal to tip your foot quite as far as that when serving.

Yeah I spoke to my coach about it a couple of mins ago, and he suggested maybe wearing an ankle weight?

Apparently that would prevent my foot tipping so far forward???

imho.....go back to basics. Retrain yourself the 'right' way. Since you play regularly, you should be able to get it back fast. but playing the 'wrong' way and you'll not only hurt your shoes, you'll eventually hurt yourself also.

I don't think what I do is the "wrong way".

If you look at Sampras, the master, you'll notice he does the exact same thing I do (just a billion times better).

Just need some more durable shoes

I went for the Wilson Evolution shoes in the end, thought they looked best

Didn't realise there were any tennis players around!

What rackets do you guys play with?

I'm using the Head Liquidmetal Flexpoint atm.
