A symbol of a phone with a red "x" in it's top right hand corner has appeared on my K800i. I've looked in the manual (both physical manual and pdf) but it's not listed.
Any idea's what it could be?

I think it means you've set the phone to "acept no calls". Not 100% sure though.

I suspected that but I called it from a landline and the call came through without a problem.

you sure it's an "x" - the only one I canget an 810 to do is
a small red arrow that "bounces" off the phone, which means
calls diverted from this handset.

Definately an "x".
It also shows next to the time when the screensaver is on.

I was thinking about flight mode, but that's a symbol similar to the "No Parking" traffic sign. If you go to preferences/network/search network, the icons in front of the unavailable network look like that too.
Can you make a snapshot of the icon? Or use MS paint?

IIRC, it means that you have a "Missed Call".

Nah, this is a missed call icon (in standby). It's red as a status bar icon.
