just wodnering what i would need to go wireless?

At the moment im on adsl but its slow and i think its because of the length of the cable. it goes from one side of my house to the other (at a guess about 8m of cable)

would i need anything else except that?

thanks

Thats all you need matey

Really is simple, i had the same predicament as you, a long cable stretching from downstairs to up and my speed was affected.

So i just bought a Belkin wireless router, ran the installer and voila had it working.

Belkin is great, but if your on a pc or laptop without wifi built in, you'll need an adaptor aswell. I bought my belkin for £20 from pc world, but have had some problems with it. You can see this in one of the threads below this one.

was reading an article the other day in pcw i think it was. it said that people are lossing about 25% of there download speed through incorrect wiring using wires that are to long or plugging mulitiple sources into the main socket etc.
my mate had the same problem you did, he bought a wireless adsl router and his connection is running to its max potential now and he s never had a problem since.
