Seeing as Orange UK have taken it upon themselves to customise the UIQ software on the P990, there seem to be some specific Orange-related problems. This thread is to document those.

My starters are:

+ RSS reader not available, and if you try to view an RSS feed via Opera (called Web in Orange-land), Opera/Web crashes; the RSS reader is specifically mentioned in the Orange manual
+ the 'hardware buttons' option is not available
+ the applications that were meant to be on the Memory Stick (listing here) are not there!

I've also had a lot of software crashes, doing things like opening the calendar or contacts.

One last thing is that the Homescreen ruins the usefulness of the phone itself.

I've passed on my concerns to Orange and was told I needed a SIM update(!). My queries have also been passed to the technical department for further investigation and I'm expecting a call back within 72 hours (clock started ticking at midnight Monday 16th October).

If you're looking for screenshots of the Orange-ised version of the P990, see this thread.

Please add your comments & findings below.

that's not true, the Pxxx series supports two lines by default, only Nokia phones needed a little tweaking to allow a second line

Received mine today, charged in about an hour so couldnt resist trying it.

So far had no crashes, tried the camera/video app, messaging, calendar, tools etc and even the vijay singe 3d golf game, all seems fine.

Not tried opera/rss reader yet.

Despite the branding, i love it... its damn sexy with the flip off and I just love that blue backlit keyboard.

Got mine today too, jut waiting for my new SIM card to be activated. Tried a few things on it so far, such as installing a new theme, fiddling with the settings etc. Seems fine, no crashes so far. Just need to be able to make some calls on it now!

If anyone fancies trying a video call on it, drop me a PM or else catch me on Yahoo! IM.

i've noticed that the icons on the main menu do not change when you change the theme! does that mean that i have to stick with the orange silly icons for the rest of my life!? ggrrr
