> Java apps limited by memory
Bookmark topic
Hi all
Just 3 days ago, we (my father and I) had gone out to buy a new mobile - intentionally k750 - but the shopkeeper told us that they didnt have a k750 piece left and showed us a phone of a new brand - Fly 2040i (see
http://www.flyphone.ru/en-2040i/ ). The phone is good considering its price (Rs. 8000) and the no. of features it gives, but not very near to k750i. My dad liked it very much and we bought it.
I want use many java games (some apps also) on this new cell. But the problem is, it gives very little memory for java apps. Its about just 400kb. The phone has internal memory of 60 MB and also a microSD slot. So can there be any way to increase the size of the memory alloted for java apps?
Due to this limitation, I am
(1) unable to install bigger games
(2) unable to install even a decent amount of very small apps or games
Do SE phones also limit the memory for java apps or can java apps be installed till the whole phone memory is used up by them, or even on the memory stick?

I don't think there is any way to increase memory for Java, that also happens with some old nokias. In SonyEricsson's case, there is no limit for anything, even for java, nor video, nor anything, lol. Tht's really convinient. You'll like the K750 better than the Fly, trust me

i think

phones does have limitations when it comes to running java applications. i have tried running a java game for my cell (street fighter 2) that's about 500kb, and it gives out the error 'This application uses too much memory'. it still happened even though i cut down my free phone memory from 27MB to 24MB.

well, yes, that would be the heap memory. But for data storage, SE doesn't limit. You can put as many files as you want as long as you have free memory. cheers

Ok, thanx for the reply.
Actually, the Fly phone will be used by my daddy n i'll be using his old T230 for the time being till i get a new phone. I wanted to confirm that SE doesn't have any such limitations coz i need a phone which is most customizable.

U should get k750. Its a very good phone and its cheap now, really good value for money. Its totally customizable with the themes and yes there is no memory limit for any folder of the phone. Big

plus here. And it can also play java games and apps very well. Go to mobile-review and read k750īs benchmarks on its review. It performs very well.

Yes i know, the k750 is a very fine piece.
Anyway, maybe i'll buy a new phone after my 12th, next year and till then maybe w810i will become cheaper. There's not much difference betn them except the walkman.
