> Should Sony Ericsson Launch a 'Chocolate'

Good old Sony Ericsson has done a roaring trade with its trendy
handsets, the W850i being its next big hit by the looks of things.
This year it managed to outperform the market, post record profits and steal sales from Samsung, LG and Motorola and add a full percentage point market share to become the 4th biggest player in the industry with more growth forecast.
However, it is yet to have anything to challenge the LG Chocolate, which is enjoying booming sales - with the next edition already on the way - and slim, metallic handsets are forecast to be the big thing for 2007.
Should
bring out an ultra slim slider and follow the herd, or will it be making a big mistake by sticking to what it knows best - music and imaging?

Well I don't see a problem with SE going into fashion. Look at the brilliantly designed Z610 (ok the inside could've looked better but who cares
).
Sony influence would obviously be there, but that's not a problem as their mp3 players and laptops look so good anyway.

LG has reported huge sales of this handset and it has leaped up to No 3 in the UK charts with the K800i still at No1.

I think SE will eventually. We've already heard
the rumours about the Chocolate competitor from SE. It's only a matter of time, and I can tell that it's going to look something like a Sony or Z610.

If you're talkin' about SLIM, I think it'd better be addressed to Samsung Ultra Edition, not to that Chocolate cuz Chocolate (also RAZR Family) is no longer the slimmest phone compared to Samsung Ultra Edition.
Besides, Samsung Ultra has better looks and specs than that of Chocolate or RAZR.

I don't really like the looks of the Samsungs to be honest. Too wide and boring. Not that I love the Chocolate much either though. Bit plasticy for my liking.

I agree and it would seem that the LG version of 'slim' is currently selling bucketloads, this handset alone is propelling LG's mobile business.
I agree that Samsungs is probably the better and slimmer and Moto started the trend but
really has no answer to these ultra skinny phones.

I just hope they don't go overboard like Samsung. I mean, slim is nice, but I like LG slim. Slim, but not wide and tall. That's the way to go, even if it doesn't go to less than 1cm thick, at least it's comfortable to hold. 14mm or 15mm is fine really.

able to produce a reallyslim phone?
The slimmest at the moment I think is the 15mm (M600i). How slim is the slimmest on the market?

Slimmest on the market is the Samsung X820, but it does hae ahump for the camera, which brings a part of it to about 9mm.
But I do think SE has the tech to do it, just don't know why. Cheap China companies can do it, why not a big manufacturer like SE (and even Nokia).
Maybe they're biding their time, but it'll come a bit too late anyway. But too thin is not that good either. I've already said why.
But that new Cybershot looks to be 14-15mm thick though. Very nice size I must say.
