> 4Gbytes Memory Stick for P990i

I have tried to use the new 4Gb MS Pro Duo for storing some of my music. I have around 1.300 files and around 3,5Gb.
I transfer the complete 3,5Gb from my PC to the MS stick, directly, via an USB adaptor. The files are there, and everithing goes normally when in the computer.
But, when you connect the MS to the P990, almost 50% of the files dissapear and/or became corrupted. Then you need to format again the MS in order to be able to work, even with the PC, and you loose all the information.
Finnally, if the amount of information is less than 2 Gb, everything goes OK.
Does it mean that the P990 does not admit more than Gb, or is a new bug?

The P990 isn't advertised for more than 2G. I was told when I bought mine that anything beyond 2G would probably be unreadable. So I'm guessing that's what's happened to you. That being said, I've heard people on here say that they've used over 2G with no problems.

doubt it they only advertise the maximum size of memory stick available at the time the phone is announced. but larger mspro duo shuld still work e.g 2gb card in a k750 which stated max memory of 1 gb.
did you format the memory card in your p990 before transerring the files as i think this created the correct folders within the memory card which can be read by the phone.
but then again i am just guessing

Try using the supplied cable and docking-station, I have a 4gb card, and have not had any problems like yours, but I've only used the docking-station.
Be sure to set your P990's usb-settings to file-transfer, or the speed will be SLOOOOW.

The easiest way to get to that setting is via the shortcuticon down in the left corner in flip open view. Choose Connections=>USB and at the top there you have a choice of two connectiontypes. Choose File-transfer and the P990 will function as a mass storage device in windows, and file-transfer goes MUCH faster than using the other setting.

Thanks for that! I was looking on my PC... This changes everything -- dropping big podcasts on there is easy now. Thanks again, great tip, and especially useful once my 4GB card arrives.

Podcasts? How do you get these to work on the P990i? And where are you getting the casts from?

@scroitoru
I'm just downloading them to my PC, then shifting them (via fast-er USB now). When a podcast catcher for the P990 comes along, I will be very happy indeed.
One thing I did wonder was if someone who has a working RSS reader (i.e. not an Orange customer) can check what happens when an RSS podcast feed is updated -- do the enclosures come too?
