Hello all,
Myself and ghostfreak have decided to team up and provide a site for all Sony Ericsson users to submit their bugs with their current firmware. We decided to do this because the current thread(s) on firmware issues are not really designed for this type of input. Anyone who reads the K800 firmware overview thread will understand how hard it is becoming to find useful information relating to firmware.
We decided that the perfect solution would be a two part system. What we have online is:
1) A Bug Tracker system.
With this system you can create a bug report. All you need to do is select the phone you have and the firmware revision on the phone and outline the problem then submit that report and it is instantly posted online for everyone else to view. If you experience the problem you can validate it by voting yes or no on the issue. Hopefully with this type of system we can check just how many people experience the problem and whether it is a valid problem. You can also leave comments on each report if you feel you would like to add information to the report.
2) A forum
With a system like this, a forum is needed for people to voice opinion on their phones. You may talk about bugs in the forum as well as submitting them on the bug tracker but having the forum gives you greater voice and means that the relevant bug reports are separate from other issues such as not being able to find a certain feature or requesting help on a feature (something which has bogged down the esato firmware threads in the past).
The system is currently in beta at the moment with a few features still under development (search function being the notable missing feature) and we would like your opinions on how it can be made better. If you think it should log more information or require extra features then let us know in the forum. We want this to be like the great bug trackers for other systems (i.e. Mozilla's bug tracker or Microsoft's Connect home).
We think we can make it a success and who knows, maybe Sony Ericsson may one day provide something like it where their user base can help make the future phones better.
Check it out
