Have a look at this video where all the the 3D images are taken from single photographs.

Its part of a research project at CMU (Carnegie Mellon University).

Very clever but it still looks like a 2D photo being skewed, panned and zoomed to me.

Probably looks better uncompressed and bigger to be fair.

that does not impress me. you should see the robotics stuff we do at university. we even had a better head than the one used on the latest mars rover (oportunity)
