This topic is for disenchanted P990 users only!
I got the sh*ts with my SE P990 and instead went to an Asus P525. It's rock solid! Doesn't crash like my P990 used to, and I can run more than 2 apps at once without it rebooting, since it has nearly 50mb free RAM on bootup!
Face it, the P990 is a pretty sorry joke, and a nasty smear on the once golden reputation of the P Series (maybe not the P800). I was in love with the features of the P990, but the performance (lack of it), and the constant crashes p*ssed me off. Add to that the fact that we must now wait for another couple of months until the next update, which will *possibly* fix *some* of the massive list of issues, and the P990 looks like an expensive and occasionally functional paperweight.
It is simply not defensible that a company (let alone SE) could release a product as bug ridden as the P990, keeping us dedicated users hanging on the promise of firmware upgrades, and having to use 3rd party apps just to get a decent uptime out of our phones. I know i'll get flamed for this, but quite frankly it doesn't matter. The facts are well discussed elsewhere on this forum. Search for "P990 bugs".
If you can live without the QWERTY thumbboard, 3g, and the flip, then check out the P525. The p525 is a very well made phone, feels very solid with the brushed metal faceplate, and the design is very sleek overall. Best of all, it's stable.
I know benchmarks arem't the be-all, but, check out the benchmarks at the bottom of this review

Looks interesting. So no 3G and no FM radio and MicoSD limited to 2GB I believe. I assume it has A2DP (BT stereo) and T9?

Hi Jah,
it isn't specified on ASUS' site, but I can confirm that it has A2DP support plus T9. Oh, and it supports mini SD memory, not micro. Sandisk are now making 4gb mini SD cards, though i'm not too sure about compatibility, may be possible for 4gb support in new ROM update assuming the pinout is the same on the new SDHC cards (http://www.sandisk.com/Corporate/PressRoom/PressReleases/PressRelease.aspx?ID=3530).
There are some reviews of this phone that pose it in a negative light, but this is only because it doesn't cram in every tiny little feature that everybody supposedly 'needs' these days.
I find the design attractive, it's extremely responsive, and very stable. Plus it's currently the only WM5 device with an autofocus camera, and a decent one at that. I have no need for FM radio, QWERTY keypad or 3G. (I consider the fact that speed-wise it blows the pants off the tytn, a good feature!).

Quit whining. I have the P990... never had a crash or other problems, and run a bunch of apps at once.

Ahhh, the reset button! Never leave a Windows Mobile without it!
To be honest, the design does look good, but as mentioned earlier, no 3G means it's DOA today, at least for a LOT of markets. Besides, I personally wouldn't want to look at that cluttered interface all day. UIQ 3 OTOH is just plain beautiful.
As for the P990i, mine is humming fine, and plenty fast and responsive. Does all I expect it to do and much more.
I don't get it when people talk about speed on these things!

No 3g?? No FM radio?? wtf i need those because on our country where using it. The p990i can record from fm radio so if i don't have the song yet i can get it as soon as possible. I also like the videocall from the p990i we used it to communicate to our love ones because both the country where we stay offers videocall. I'm still loving my phone until now no crashes or hang.

Read the title of the first post, "Disenchanted p990 users only!". You don't sound disenchanted at all, so go and enjoy your p990.
Oh and Symbiatico, I haven't had to reset my p525 yet, and i've had it for nearly a week. It's loaded with all my apps, and it's stable.
