hi,
i had a 4gb from sandisk,,, not original... i could never make out that but when i contacted sandisk they told me its fake...
there were a few problems when i tried to copy files to it in the usb mode...
video start up was also very slow..
some times when i took photographs it did not save properly..
these could have been due to some firm ware problem... god knows..
any way i have sent it for a refund.....
i am going to get a 4gb sandisk ultra 2 ... this has a higher reading and writing speed and so i expect it to work better...

There are fake Sandisk and Sonys going around. The best way of getting a genuine card vis to go to reputable dealer and not ebay. Most sandisk and sony duos actually come from the same factory

i read a review which said that more than 90% of all memory cards sold on ebay are fake.
even the ones sold by highly credited sellers on ebay are fake.... they may work quite normally but when you want to some thing exceptional like use it in a higher end handset or frequently write and re write these fake ones give problems.... and we never give a thought that there is some problem with the card...
the best place to buy it would be an authorised dealer,,,, you can get those from the sandisk website...
sony or sandisk.... in esato there are plenty of discussion going on about which is the best... and most conclude that sandisk is better and cheaper than sony...
even the one that comes in the kit of 990i is from sandisk

I bought a 2gb Sony card, (high speed) from Hong Kong, through Ebay.
All sealed and exactly the same as Sony sell over here for 4 times the cost.
I have had no problems with it whatsoever.. but that's not to say there are some dodgy ones out there.

I do not recommend buying any 2nd hand Memory Sticks or memory cards, there are too many fake ones out there. Usually just re-badged using old card internals.

i've recently obtained a 4gb sandisk pro duo and have discovered that:
it plays 25mb mp4 videos, but not 1gb mp4 movies (freeze).
there's a lag when capturing pictures.
there's a lag and freeze points when shooting videos.
i suspect it's a read/write speed issue with normal speed pro duo cards. perhaps i should get an ultra speed type. does anyone have similar issues?

Hi,
I've got the 4gb ultra II scandisk version.
It too has lag when taking videos disappointingly.
There appears to be no significant lag when taking or storing photos.
The video playback, from what I can gather no card will play back videos of anywhere near a gig, this is a phone limitation at the moment. It'll quite happily play back files of 100mb but there's a long wait with playing these files, at least 1-2 mins although ive not timed it. The ultra II card didn't seem to speed up load times. I should note on a sony normal card it's just as long for loading a 100mb video.
I've got a 512mb sony pro duo i've had for a while and that gives no video lag when shooting videos. Weird about the ultra II tho, would have thought it'd lap up the speed increases.
