> Help (unlocking W850)
Bookmark topic
Hey everyone.
I would really appreciate if someone can help me.
Around 2 weeks ago my cousin sister sent me a Sony W850i mobile phone, apparently I need a code which can unlock it. I cant seem to find it here in India. The mobile has been realised around a week ago.
Any help would be appreciated.
Sorry if I have posted this in the wrong sub forum.

Might tack my question onto this thread....
I have googled around, and I have searched the forums. I know the W850i can be unlocked. I even have the unlocking code from Vodafone AU because they offer a free service to their customers.
But for the life of me, they don't have the unlocking instructions for the W850! So I was wondering if anyone knows the steps to start the unlocking process so I can enter in the code provided by my mobile phone provider?
Thanks in Advance

W850 is a CID49 phone. There is currently NO WAY to unlock such phones that were locked at the factory for the carrier. SETool has had Limited success in unlocking phones that were locked by themselves, but further testing showed that factory locked phones are not able to be unlocked. Stay tuned, it might take a few more months before this can be done. This applies to ALL CID49 phones as I understand it - W810, K790, K800, w950, etc.
IF The vendor provides you with an Unlock code do the following:

@Tervel
Incorrect, it is not the CID which is the major problem. If you try it, SEtool can very easily unlock a W810, I have done it without any problems. The problem is the new security on the phones. The platform is now what is called
DB2020, and these phones cannot be unlocked. All new

s are the same, so you cant unlock K800/K790 onwards unfortunatly.

@Tervel:
Thanks for the tip. I have been able to successfully unlock my W850i for use on other networks now using the code supplied by my mobile phone carrier.
Thanks for your help all! and thanks to Tervel for the instructions to allow the code to be inputted.

@Coxy
My mistake, late at night wasn't thinking straight. Never the less the W850 is DB2020 which makes it currently impossible to unlock and the rest of what I said applies. I thought that the W810 was also DB2020, I guess I was mistaken.
