I've been looking through old posts and trying to research this one on my own, but haven't been able to find my answers. So I apologize if this has been answered before.
So, I have an unbranded W810i, which has EDGE support, and I have a Cingular pay as you go subscription. I can use GPRS without any problems, I used the Sony Ericsson support site for my setup. My question is; Am I already using EDGE? Is that something that is always 'on'? My phone shows the EDGE symbol whenever I'm in an EDGE covered network, but the thing is, my access and transfer times on the net seems just as slow as whenever I'm in an area that only has GPRS. Does EDGE have to be set up in any specific way? If so, how?
Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers,
Addy

AFAIK,EDGE does not need to be specifically activated. However, it might depend on the operator as well (am nt sure abt this). The best possible way to know this is your service provider themselves. You may also check the kind of sped you are reciving to confirm if EDGE is being used.

Adlerson, I have Pick your plan which is basically prepaid. I called Cingular on this, and apparently you have EDGE support, the transfer times vary greatly, I've gotten from 180kbps to 50kbps and the EDGE indicator is on. If your SIM card says 3G, it also supports HSDPA and UMTS, it only depends on your handset and the area where you are.

Hope this helps.
Ah and your questions, about the settings they should be the same, you can use the sony ericsson automatic configurators to do this.
