The W810 and some other models suffer from hissing and digital distortion when playing audio files such as mp3 although the radio is perfectly clear. It is particularly noticeable at low volumes (try 1 bar).

I'm looking at possibly buying the W850 and would like to know if the W850 has the same problem. If you own or use a W850 please can you try playing some music at low volume in a quiet environment, and listen for background hissing and/or digital distortion. It will be more noticeable if you use relatively quiet music.

If you don't hear any problems but you have heard the problems on a W810 then your opinion will be pretty conclusive that the W850 is OK. If you have never heard the problems on any model then maybe it won't be so conclusive!

If you're someone who says the W810 does not have this problem then please don't post to this thread.

but i dont think w850 nd w950 hav the same 1

it doesnt matter as i listen to my mp3s on full volume

YES it may not matter but we're talking about standard product here. talking of a walkman branded phone by SE, we expect it to be full proof especially with regards to that part of the phone's functionality it is bult for.
Also, our concern would make SE to make more improvement on the quality of audio output of 'w' series. it is a practice of any good co. like SE to satisfy its customers. And SE is doing all its best in this area.
we've seen so many firmware update on mostly-used-phones. this is simply to satisfy me and you.
how would they know we're satisfied? When we stop sending comments and complaints. We commend all other areas that SE did well and also to balance the equation, condemn all areas that they need to improve on.
All round, the pros far outweights the cons. thats why most of us love SE. thats why we'll continue in helping them make better phones for us.

well said fellow esatotens, we don't want thick people who say that their w810i etc does not hiss because of their clouded pride (can name hundreds here). we want to improve se as the best we can so they don't fall backwards when other competitors pick up their game

I don't have any hiss on my w810 but I do have a strange anomaly when the playlist ends (kind of like a pop.)

No hiss or distortion on W850. There is, however, a very short noise-like sound between tracks when listening through headphones. This miight be normal due to reading data on the memory card.
