I've recently developed a problem with sending and receiving MMSs on my Orange UK network P910i. Attempts to send or get messages result in the following error:

--
Program closed

Program Main
Reason code KERN-EXEC
Reason number 3
--

I click Continue to clear this message and then see:

--
Failed to send MMS

An error occured [sic] in the communication with the WAP gateway. Check WAP account settings in the control panel
--

Have I checked with my network that my account is MMS-enabled? Yes.

Have I checked the relevant settings? Yes.

It's only in the last week I've had this problem. Up until then I could send and receive MMSs quite happily on the same settings.

I've tried the SIM in another phone, a T610, and with the same settings on that phone was able to send and receive MMSs no problem.

So the issue seems to be phone-specific. I've closed all apps running in the backgound with Sman, if that's of any relevance. E-mail, SMS, web browsing all function normally.

Any ideas ppl?

TIA.

Well, for the record, I got a fix for this from Orange UK tech support. (I guess there's a first time for everything, even though I've been with Orange for over ten years!)

I simply had to clear the in-built browser's cache. I can only assume that the Messages app shares storage space with the Internet app, and that there was no room left for the MMSs I was trying to send/receive.

Needless to say, the error messages I saw were worse than useless -- just plain wrong. Poor programming.
