Nokia sold a little over 400,000 phones in a single day in India; the most it has ever sold in a single day anywhere in the world.
ESATO NEWS
The company’s previous single day sales record was about one 100,000 phones. This is the kind of sales its competitors generally do over the entire year in India.
“It is even more than what Nokia has ever sold on any Chinese new year," says a dealer who has seen an Nokia internal communiqué on this matter.
India recently celebrated its new year along with Eid and Diwali (the festival of lights) and this is supposed to explain the sudden boom in sales. Ironically most of the sales came from the entry level low budget handsets which Nokia did not want to get into initially due to the lower profit margins.
“India is a volumes market and everybody is focusing on this low-end segment," said one of Nokia’s top officials. He requested not to be named because Nokia is an unlisted company in India and does not declare its sales numbers.

There's NOTHING unusual with the NEWS . . . as well know that India is ONE of the MOST (if not the most) populous countries in the world . . . I would not even be alarmed if in the distant future they will be sekking around 500K in - China

Let's just see if they can SELL . . . ONE, even just . . . ONE handset in - planet . . . MARS
