I have a chinese (HK) version of P990i, and the only keypad text input method is chinese. I want English T9. Anyone knows how to go around this?

I went to the control panel > keypad text input>
and they only have two options:
1. EziChineseText (no sure the exact name, but something like this)
2. None

You can download languages from the SE website..

here is the UK area download page..

I presume you need the correct version for your organiser...

Downloaded the correct version of language I want (US english). When I try installing using "Download Language" in the PC suit, I have the following error after the .sis file is transfered to the phone:

I click "install" as the phone asks me to, then
"Cannot install, the following software must be present on this device before the installation can proceed:
Software name: SongEricssonP900LanguegelD
Version: 2.00(0)
Install this software and begin the installation again"

Obviously I am missing "SongEricssonP900LanguegelD" in the phone. Strange

Only guessing here, but the file has P900 in the title.... not P990

just a thought.

It's actually "SonyEricssonP990LanguagelD", typo.

@bandit

I have english T9 in flip open keyboard, but I only have 123 or chinese text input for flip closed keypad. And it sucks since I cannot quickly access my contacts (ie: hit 5 to quickly go to "J" in contacts).

In your control panels>device>text input>
How many options do you have ? I have only three options:
1. Handwriting
2. Virtual keyboard
3. Flip Closed keypad
(the instruction says there are 5 options: so I am missing predictive text, auto capitalization, right?)

And in your Flip Closed keypad>input method
How many choices do you have? I only have two choices:
1. Chinese eZiText
2. None

Same options as you.

to flip from Chinese ---> English and back, when you're able to type, hold down the '#' sign.

to flip from Multitap ---> T9 predictive text, hold down the '*' sign.

Let me know how that works for you.
