Its been a year since the S60 3rd edition was released, and so far there're really very minute amount of good and fun applications available for it. How long does it take for the migration from 2nd to 3rd edition?
Another thing that bothers the hell out of me is that most, infact all of the good applications are not free. I dont know why the hell isnt Opera for Symbian is not free? Whats the sence in that? Why would anyone pay for a browser? When they're free for windows, why not for symbian?
Then there're call and SMS filtering applications that are not free, security softwares that are not free. I just dont get it.

Hi QVGA,
I don't agree there is lots of software now available for S60 3rd Edition but IMO it is the fact that even freeware needs signing to be able to gain access to files and folders. Plus certain areas are no longer accessible to third party developers that has ended a lot of freeware and other apps. I understand your point about Opera and Opera Mini being free for most other platforms but not S60 does seem strange but i much prefer the built in Nokia/Safari browser as find it much easier to use.

Most apps arent free because people and companies spend time programming and developing there apps. Time is money, so they say.

You can say the same about Opera Mini for Java phones. Why is that free? Wasnt time consumed in making it? Though its easier to make, it should be cheaper then.

Hi jack77777,
I don't know about you but if i really want some apps for my phone i am happy to pay for it. As robbing developers is the easiest way of stopping new apps from being developed or ported to a new Os and don't they deserve to be paid for their creativity and hard work? Also installing warez and cracked apps is the easiest way of getting nasty stuff on your phone and IMO people using warez deserve all the problems they get but this is just MO.

Opera mini was probably offered free because of the amount of people who bought other products from them. Like the series 60 version.
