Hi Spine6,
Although there is Anti Virus software it is the current opinion that these are not really needed due to the improved security in UIQ3. Unless you accept things sent to from unkown or untarusted sources and you install them or are installing cracked apps these phones should remain safe.

Hi Spine,
As far as i am aware No as a Windows virus won't infect a Mac as they are different OS's i believe it is the same with Symbian and as i said above security is much improved and you have proactively do something to get infected with anything.

Hi Indiandawg,
Unless you are doing any of things i have advised against exactly how is a virus going to get on your memory card and corrupt it exactly? Anti Virus on a Symbian smartphone is a waste of money and this is not just MO but of others with far greater knowledge than I. Search the Symbian forums and you will many articles stating this.

Absolutely right. The only reason the memory card gets corrupted is because the PC which contains the card reader is spammed up to hell and can no longer work properly. The virus does not infect the memory card, windows screws it up through lack of resources (timing out during read / write operations) and modified system files. Even if a virus does copy itself to the memory card, it can't possibly run on a symbian OS device.

People are still struggling to release legitimate software for UIQ 3, never mind viruses!
