Had my phone for a while now and am generally very pleased with it. Having upgraded from my P900 I have found the transition awkward! There are lots of little things that I just need to get used to that were second nature on the P900. The omission of the 5D jog wheel is the biggest loss though.
By the way, I have managed to extend my battery life just a tad by installing quite a dark theme. I am currently using “Stylish_Black_Sony”.
Anyway back to my post. My question to the group is this…..
Is there any way to change the P99 desktop in Flip Open?
Having that entire screen with only 5 icons at the bottom is a bit of a waste!
Cheers.

Yup.
tools ----> control panel -----> device ----> wallpaper
you can choose different wallpapers for flip open vs. flip closed.

@jimbo385
Where did you get the theme you mentioned?

Thanks for the replies. I did not mean wallpaper but application icons. There are only 4 displayed with a lot of free space above them. Is there a way of adding icons to this desktop?
I posted a message to the Themes thread and received a link that contained this and other really good themes.
I will be trying to update this theme to remove the SE logo because this gets in the way sometimes and makes it a bit difficult to see what's overlayed on top.

Hi Jimbo, another pleased P990 user... it seems we are few and far between!
You can't change your desktop yet afaik because tools like handyday and tracker haven't been released for UIQ3. When these are (hopefully) you'll be able to customise it to your hearts content.
If you had an orange branded P990, they changed the UI to remove the 4 shortcuts from the bottom and replace them with a custom 'bar' down the side with 8 menus of shortcuts. This has often been slated but infact works quite well once you get used to where things are, you can even customise one of the menus for your own shortcuts.

Thanks Cheeky (or should I cal you Nige!).
We will just have to wait and see what come up over the next few months in both the SE and third party camp.
I dare say that because SE has pissed quite a few people off with the underperforming release (according to their own hype), that they may get their act together and release a firmware worthy of the processor & operating system.

Handyday pretty much sucks. On my p900 and p910 it was functional and it looked good. I've used for a long time but changed to tracker instead. But the version of handyday for uiq3 on the p990 is not "finished" yet i think.
BUT. on this moment it's the only (working) i know of for UIQ3.
