This has been posted on another forum as I am trying to get an answer.

I have questions that I would like to open up to other P990 users.

I have a Vodafone branded P990 loaded with Firmware R5A006. I have managed to connect to the net via my wireless access and via the Vodafone settings sent to me by Vodafone.

I already know about the Vodafone issue with SEUS (Sony Ericsson Upgrade Service) and why I can not upgrade to the latest firmware which is believed to be R9A006.

The questions that I have relates to gaining access to the net.

I have set up the Internet Group to have my connections in the following order;

Home - Wireless connection at \home
Vodafone Live - Vodafone Live!
Vodafone Int - Vodafone WAP

My annoyance is that when I connect to the net or to download RSS feed, my fone always asks "Connect to Internet" and lists the connection options as ;

Internet - Group with the above entries
Vodafone mail Incoming - Settings from Vodafone
Vodafone mail Outgoing - Settings from Vodafone

Now, what's that all about? I have read that some folks get their feeds automatically by setting "Schedule Uploads" in the Settings option within RSS feeds.

Can anyone help please?

As far as i understand it, its just a request confirmation to use the service that you know is in operation where you are. It works quite logically since if the first connection in your group fails (Wifi) it moves on to the next (Vodafone Live) etc.

What annoys me about this however, is getting the phone to accept connections from designated MIDlet programs. For example, what on earth is the difference between "Yes, this time only" & "Yes, this session only"??

If anything, there seems to be a fault with this aspect of the phone.

If the midlet disconnects and you selected this time only, when it tries to reconnect, it will ask again. Not if you select this session only.

So is it possible to setup internet acces to connect automatiically and download my RSS Feeds while I am asleep without asking if I want to connect?

I am sure`that`someone`has done it!

So how does one go about enabling that MIDlet as a trusted app and not request permission in future? I was under the impression that the MIDlet settings within the control panel provides for this.....
