> Is this common for stereo widening function?

I got a Z710 and now come a question which I am not sure.
Similar to W550, it come with Stereo Widening. However when I use W550, switching on Stereo Widening will get very good audio both on headphone and speaker mode.
Z710 seem to be supressing the audio whenever I have stereo widening switch on for headphone mode.
Or maybe I am wrong about this mode on W550?
