We bought my Nan and Grandad a cheap alba freeview box last year but they never used it so i have it in my room. My aerial broke before i could set it up.

I finally bought an aerial to use with it today and have set it up but the only channels i can get are:

BBC1
BBC2
The Hits

Now i can't get any of the above either!!!

TMF
UK Bright Ideas

WTF is up with that? Everything is connected ok and the aerial is by the window. Also sometimes the channels are there and sometimes not also the picture can be flickery?

Any ideas? Am i doing something wrong, thanks

Are you using the outside aerial or a small one inside?

I inherited the freeview box when we got sky + a year or so back but it would'nt work with my portable aerial ....

I am using an inside aerial, the main aerial is downstairs, there isn't one upstairs. This sucks arse, i paid £25 for this aerial. Looks like it will have to go back. Stupid freeview.

This is the one i just bought:

It said for use with freeview tv or box. So i need a booster one, can you recommend any?

Thanks

It all depends on what the reception in your area is like, if youve got rubbish reception in your area then it might not matter what aerial you have.

It might be worth taking it downstairs and plugging it into the main aerial and seeing what you get.

Are you able to run a second cable from the main aerial? All you'd need is an aerial splitter and some UHF cable (and possible a drill to poke the cable through!)

My parents run about 4 TVs off the same external aerial, just using splitters and a booster in the loft.

only problem with that is that all 4 tv's are running off the one signal so they will only be 1/4 the strength of the original signal
