> Email on the P990

I have an unbranded P990i using it on Vodafone network in the UK. Latest firmware upgrade completed just after I got the phone and my WAP/Internet and MMS settings are entered correctly.
Main reason for getting this phone was to be able to collect my email while on the move.... I have Google, NTLworld and Yahoo+ and can succesfully collect all these on other email clients on main computer and laptop.
I'm not a complete idiot when it comes to setting up email accounts, but using the email feature on the P990 has got me completely flumoxed.
All details entered correctly on the relevant pages including the section for advanced details where needed. In fact the phone even connects to the network, but on all 3 email accounts I get a "Server Timed out" error message.
Has anyone managed to succesfully use the email feature?

for gmail, I have SSL on both inbound ad outbound. For incoming use 995 port without secure pwd auth, for outgoing use 465 with MIME encoding. And it works, as well as my pop3 accounts I have.

Those are the settings I use. I have even downloaded Profimail to see if that makes a difference, but unfortunately I get the same Timed Out message using that email client as well.
I never really wanted to move from SE, as I have always had their phones since my aged T39M, but if this don't work soon, it looks like they might finally lose my custom.

then it might be your provider?! Did you try another SIM, from another provider and see if you can get access to POP3 mail?

Very strange. I set up all my POP3 mail addresses in a few clicks and everything works perfect. AlI I need is mail address, username and password, incoming and outgoing server and SMTP authentication.

It's a stupid question but in the Username did you put in your entire email address?

Not stupid question at all. Yes I use entire email address as user name for all accounts altought with my GSM provider's email address I can use only a text before @.
For expl:
Sign-in Yahoo Information Server Settings (payed POP3 account)
User Name:
xxx@yyy.com
Password: (The password associated with the Yahoo! or SBC Yahoo! ID you use to sign in to your mailbox.)
Incoming Mail (POP3): pop.bizmail.yahoo.com
Outgoing Mail (SMTP): smtp.bizmail.yahoo.com (Authentication required)

I have jsut upgraded to the lastest Vodafone frmware R7A001 and I cannot get connected to my email account on blueyonder. I have it working on everyother phone but now it comes up with server error. If I connect via wifi I can down load all the emails successfully so it looks like the vodafone end.
Any body solved this.

I failed to connect to email using an O2 gprs sim - but it works fine over wifi (to pop3). Since I'm not in the UK at the moment, I haven't tried since confirming that I got the settings right!

I have tried changing virtually every setting on the P990 - internet accounts and email accounts nothing works over gprs.
I am so unhappy with the P990 it just so so poor. I feel that I am finding out all the bugs in it still.
Even with the latest firware it is still a poorly finished phone, Looks great and is nearly there - years to build a reputaiton and seconds to end it.
