Hi!

That's it in a nutshell !

Can I setup other email accounts on a mobile with Vodafone firmware?

I want to setup a dialup account to work on my Sharp 902. I know, on
S-E firmware I can add an account and input the phone number that accesses the server....

But I cannot find where to do this on the Vodafone firmware.

Any advice appreciated !

You perhaps getting a bit confused? You should (I say should as I've never once used the phone you mentioned) be able to add an Email account using the settings provided by your ISP/Email provider. Usually all you'll need is login name, password, connection type (POP3 etc) and other server details.

How you connect to it shouldn't matter, via GPRS on Vodafone or otherwise.

Thanks frakker!

I am not confused.... I can see exactly where to add the Universities IMAP/POP settings for a new account,

but I cannot find where to add the 'connecting with' details.

so

dial-up number 01482- etc
login name -
password -

etc

I know where these are on a S-E phone, but can't find on the Vodafone firmware of my Sharp 902,

therefore I am thinking it is limited to Vodafone prepay and contract connections..

If I use Vodafones contract connection, I cannot access this IMAP account.

Don't know if this helps or not but I did manage to set up my Tesco POP account on a Vodfone branded Sharp GX-30, though I was using it was O2, so Voda branding I don't think should stop you using your phone for checking your emails.

Though you say your using a dial up (wap) account rather than GPRS? I used GPRS, not tried with wap...

Apologies if this is irrelevant, thought I'd post just in case!

Hi Sammy_boy!

I am actually using a direct dial number to the university server so not through wap, I think.

I have found a secure server address for the Uni.. so I am going to try that now, over GPRS.

be back later...

I asked someone who uses a 903 about this..

" I think with the move to the 3G phone interface Sharp has removed CSD (dialup) support, as I can't find it anywhere in my 903, whereas my GX20 has them in its settings menus. "

So time to give up...
