Hey fellas...my current phone is like in mint condition, P910i.....i posted before about my huskey taking a bite out of it and wrecking the keypad and scratches on the housing....well I purchased a new original housing and replaced it a couple weeks back....so phone is relatively new (except the battery cover lol i still need to order it) as the screen has an exif screen protector since day 1.....the phone is like new, feels new, performs awesome....i got my fiance a nokia N80 and I refused to switch my phone with her lol, i feel more functionality with mine.....

point is......since i got her a spanking new n80, looks great, functions great, but not for me i guess.....I also want a new phone lol....so i'm thinking of what to get.....choosing between a couple, N95 (not out yet), N93, N91, P990, other SE phones......

any advice? I use the touchscreen of my phone often as I use my phone as pda, for those spreadsheets and all that i do while i'm at my datacenter managing my servers, but i'm open to all sorts of phones....i'm intrigued with the n93's video capabilities also

also thinking if i should sell this phone and get a p990, or keep this and get something else as 2nd phone

suggestions??

thanks

francis

All mentioned phones are good one and the final decision is up to you. However I would always recomend P990 specialy if you often use touch screen and spread sheet. It is a real pleasure editing excel file in landscape mode using stylus. The screen is superb and you can edit larger files >1MB. I would also recomend document to go instead of quick office.

spreadsheet in landscape mode?? wow...i thought only browsing was in landscape.....what about the bugs and shortcomings i keep seeing all over the forums?

what about the nokias? although i've been a SE user for years now (swapped my 7110 for t28, then p800, then now p910)....i'm intrigued by that n93...any ideas on it? what about w950 or m600? sorry i haven't been updated on the new releases of phones

Yes, one should use task manager or swiss manager on regular basis and restart a phone from time to time and that's it. All in all perfect phone (at list for me). After using it for a while it would be now unbearable for me to come back to P910 not to speak to some 'no touch screen' phone. But no doubt there are many good phones and it is up to you to find what satisfied you the most.

@bangsters, go for the P990i mate. Many advantages.
My P990i works fine, not a problem so far. Use it for video recording, video playback which is very smooth, screen is brilliant, keyboard is tough and easy to use, and best of all for you is the price is dropping fast, can easily be picked up between £200 - £300 which is a bargain. Many other applications on the phone make this a exceptional device.

If you fancy a change from the bulky old P series form factor, take a look at the M600i. You lose the camera from the P910, but gain a sleek and very lightweight touchscreen handset with all the software advantages of the P990 (including spreadsheets in landscape), and a very neat and useable qwerty keyboard that easily beats the P910's. The P990's screen is slightly larger and it also adds Wifi and a radio (and the camera of course), but for me these weren't big attractions.

After three years using the P800 and P910, I'm really enjoying having virtually all that same functionality in a much neater, lighter package.

Have you looked at the HTC TYTN? It has nearly everything.

M600 is a beautiful phone, very true.
But don't underestimate camera ano wifi.
Camera is surprisingly good. In a daylight one have a very decent digital camera with clear colourful images that can be proud of. On other conditions there are night mode and light which serve their purpose. Video recording is also tremendous improvement, specialy if you look your recording on P990 wide screen, full of colours and very clear. I enjoy this camera like anything. Nothing is missed anymore and great pleasure to review your work.

Wifi-whatever I say cannot adequately explain how great this feature is. It represent a totaly new dimension of enjoying one's phone. Not only it is now possible to use fast unlimited browsing via ADSL router (no 3g in my country) but one can leave the PC alone when it comes to downloading one's favourite media files (big one selecting memory card as media storage). I do that . The other day when I came home after work I downloaded a few songs via wifi while eating and afterwards go out to do some sports and listen the music-no PC.

It's a trade off - obviously you're missing out on those features with a M600i, but then you're also missing out on 43g extra weight in your pocket, and for some people that's a fair swap.

Don't get me wrong, the P series is great - I loved the P800 and kept it for two years before replacing it with the P910. The P990 should, by rights, have been the next logical step - but I guess I've just had enough of big bulky phones. The attraction of having all the functionality from the old phone(s) that I actually used, wrapped up in a device as small as the M600i, was too much for me - and I don't regret it at all.

I'd encourage any habitual P-series users to give the M600i a serious look.
